Dr. Elizabeth Kortlander, Ph.D. received her doctorate from Temple University, where she studied under the direction of Philip C. Kendall, Ph.D., ABPP and participated in treatment and research at the Child and Adolescent Anxiety Disorders Center (CAADC). Dr. Kortlander has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in the treatment of anxiety disorders. She has worked in a variety of settings, including universities, hospitals, agencies, and for the past ten years, private practice.

Dr. Kortlander has treated a range of anxiety disorders in children, adolescents, and adults including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Separation Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Specific Phobias, as well as Selective Mutsim. Additionally she has treated Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Tichotillomania, and Excoliation (skin picking) Disorder. Dr. Kortlander has been involved with a number of publications and presentations, and has participated in three federally funded research projects.
Dr. Kortlander, is committed to helping anxious individuals, and their families, develop the skills to live without the limitations of anxious thoughts, feelings, and associated behaviors. Research has shown that anxiety is a highly treatable problem and that CBT is a very effective intervention. Thus with the right interventions, and practice, anxiety can be significantly reduced or even overcome, freeing individuals from the suffering and limitations it brings. Her goal is to help individuals shrink anxiety’s power, and free up the time and energy it takes to pursue constructive and pleasurable activities.
Dr. Kortlander lives in Hollywood, FL with her husband. They have two sons ages 16 and 19. She enjoys spending time with her family, doing photography, and traveling.
She is a member in good standing of the American Psychological Association (APA), and the Florida Psychological Association (FPA). She also functions in an advisory capacity for the Florida Initiative for Suicide Prevention (FISP).
